Jamie or j-MEE (Although honestly I don't care what you call me...=X )
Favorite type of music:
I just like whatever I like, although since I guess I listen to Japanese music the most I should say that..?
Several bands a minimum of 20 you enjoy:
ClaZziquai, Maná, No Doubt, Bugy Craxone, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Hirakawachi Icchome, School Girl 69', Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, Malice Mizer, Psycho le Cému, Janne Da Arc, Plastic Tree, Kuroyume, Dir en grey (until after the release of "Ain't Afraid to Die"), Vivid, Fairy Fore, Pierrot, Panic☆Ch., Waive, Kaggra,... [etc.]
Three of your favorite songs and why:
"SURREAL" by Hamasaki Ayumi: Surprisingly for an idol who seems to come out with a new single every month or so, a number of her lyrics are down the earth and thoughtful. Although initially the song caught my ear because I liked the melody.
"Gekiai Merry-Go-Round" by Psycho le Cému: This obviously this isn't for the lyrics or musical composition. However, the song makes me smile and I have a lot of good memories associated with it; it's one of those songs I can listen to over and over again.
"Ravine" by Ace of Base: I listened to this song a lot as a child and just generally like it.
Your favorite instrument and why:
I'm not sure I could pick just one; I love the guitar, piano, and violin about equally. I love the emotion that pours from these instruments under the hands of talented artists. I think the fact that you can feel emotion or be touched without even hearing words; that's something really powerful.
Who do you consider to be the most talented musician today?:
Ah, well I've yet to see any musicians that just completely blow me away from everyone else with their lyrics, music composition, and overall stage presence... However as far as guitarists go, I think Tak Matsumoto (B'z) and You (Janne Da Arc) are two of the most talented ones today.
Who do you consider to be the most talented musician ever?:
See above; I wouldn't know who to say.
What do you plan on contributing to the community?: I can romanize (Japanese) if needed, and I can somewhat translate, but I usually only do so for bands I'm interested in.
English, some Japanese, a bit of Spanish, and an even smaller amount of French. Although anything besides English isn't that great. (I probably even suck at English...=D )
Last live you attended:
Psycho le Cému @ Anime Overdose
Next live you plan to attend:
Should I get accepted into Waseda, probably Psycho le Cému or Janne Da Arc in the fall; depends on who's touring and closer to Tokyo first.
Last cd bought:
Hirakawachi Icchome's Enpitsu de Tsukuru Uta, unless you count some Psycho le Cému stuff I have on pre-order.
A picture or two of yourself:
It's too dark to take a more recent one from my cellphone right now...
Any additional comments?:
Hey, I'm all for meeting people who care more about what an artist's next release is going to sound like rather than what outfit they'll be wearing in the next issue of a magazine.
